4/04/2008 Darryl Strawberry Reaching Out For Cancer Awareness
Darryl recently spoke at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in Fort Worth, Texas.
He was interviewed by Joe Gumm, on staff at ESPN 103.3 FM, about topics from the long hours spent on buses in the minor leagues to the mental fogginess that comes from going through chemotherapy. The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders hosted the visit to Fort Worth in order to recognize National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. The Center has five satellite clinics where cancer patients from across North Texas can find health care professionals ranging from radiation oncologists to dieticians and pharmacists in one location. * article by Elizabeth Bassett, Ft. 12/23/2006 Coming Together for the Cause: Ray Negron & Darryl Strawberry
Darryl recently visited New York City with his friend Ray Negron to speak on Autism Awareness and to help bring attention to patients and families affected by autism and cancer.
Darryl & Ray also visited Montefiore Children's hospital in The Bronx where they brought holiday gifts to the children.
Darryl also helped promote Ray's book "The Boy of Steel" with the announcement that it will become a movie to be released in 2008 in which Darryl will star as a cancer patient. Read More
Darryl and Ray wrapped up their campaign in New York with a visit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Kips Bay, NY.and continue to make a difference in the lives of our children and youth!

12/14/2006 Darryl Speaks to Future Baseball SuperstarsDarryl joined his friend Ray Negron (The Boy of Steel) recently at Play Like a Pro Indoor Sports in Hauppauge, NY for a baseball seminar and book signing event.
Darryl spoke to the young players about the game of baseball and worked with each of them on learning how to swing the bat.

Darryl's oldest son DJ was named MVP of the Coaches vs.Cancer Classic Tournament held Nov 16-17 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
"He's our guy. We put him on whoever we need to put him on.He's worked hard at his game and he's dedicated himself to being a great player. He's really on the rise as a basketball player but his biggest concern is making us a better team. He's one of the better leaders I've had for a while at Maryland.
Darryl was on hand for both games to watch DJ and his teammates bring home a win for the Maryland Terrapins.

A Great Day for GolfDarryl joined his brother Michael and his Godfather for the annual church fundraiser and golf tournament. What a fun day, Darryl needed a couple more strokes, but he showed off some nice swings. It was a great day for all and a chance to contribute to a good cause.
